Tiny Forest Concept
Dr Victor Beumer, Senior Research Lead at Earthwatch Europe
During the 3rd SB4N Online Impulse Event Dr Victor Beumer from Earthwatch Europe explained the Tiny Forest Concept. A Tiny Forest is a dense fast-growing native woodland, based on an established forest management method developed in the 1970s by Dr Akira Miyawaki. The concepts includes engagement with local communities to plant, maintain and monitor their forest over time. Thus, the forests reconnect people with nature and raise awareness of climate change. Additionally environmental and social data is collected for every forest that is plant, what helps to assess the benefits the forests provide over time and between different forests.
